OCIS Division Gerardine DeSanctis Award (For best paper based on a dissertation) What is it? The second annual Gerardine DeSanctis Dissertation Award will be given at the 2008 Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management. This award, in recognition of Gerry’s significant efforts mentoring and helping to develop young faculty, will be given to the division’s best solo-authored paper based on a recent dissertation. This Award has been made possible by the generous donations of Gerry’s numerous colleagues and friends in her memory and is sponsored by the OCIS Division of the Academy. The recipient of the award will receive an honorarium of $250 and have their paper automatically selected as the OCIS Division’s nomination for the Academy-wide William H. Newman Award.
How do I apply? Papers submitted for the DeSanctis Award must be consistent with the establish criteria for the Newman Award: they must be (a) single-authored, (b) based on a doctoral dissertation completed within the past three years, and not previously published. Individuals who would like to have their papers considered for the OCIS division’s Gerardine DeSanctis Dissertation Award should place a check in the “Newman Award Nominee” box when submitting their manuscripts in the Academy’s online submission system.
Papers must also follow the general guidelines for all Academy submissions. The paper submission guidelines can be found on this year’s Annual Meeting website at meeting.aomonline.org/2008 These guidelines specify that papers should be no longer than 40 pages in length including text, figures and tables; the 40 page limit applies to all areas of the manuscript content.
The deadline for submitting papers to be considered for the Gerardine DeSanctis Dissertation Award is the same deadline for all submissions to the annual Academy Program.
If you have any questions about the Award or the submission process, please contact the OCIS Program Chair. |
